Cooper DeJean shares what Caitlin Clark texted him after his cocky shot at her
Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles' new cornerback Cooper DeJean talked a big game ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft and told reporters that he could "pull off" a 1 vs. 1 win against fellow Iowa star Caitlin Clark.

Clark, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, wasn't going to let him get away with his comment.

DeJean recently joined Kay Adams on her Up and Adams show where he revealed that Clark had fired back at him.

"I mean, I was really just answering the question, but obviously, you know, Caitlin’s a special player," DeJean said. "She’s done so much for women’s basketball as well and the University of Iowa in general. So I’ve had nothing but respect for her.

"She took a shot back at me after she texted me, and she said didn’t think that I could beat her. I’ll let her say that, but yeah, I mean, I think it’d be fun though if we got to play each other."

DeJean then said again that he could beat her. Adams didn't buy it until she saw his basketball highlights.

DeJean was a three-year varsity basketball starter at OABCIG High School in Ida Grove, Iowa, where he totaled 1,832 points. Yeah, that's impressive.

But Clark's college numbers are tough to beat as she put up 3,951 points in her four seasons at Iowa to become the NCAA's all-time leading scorer.

Adams attempted to get DeJeand to set a date and time for the two Iowa products to play this beef out, but both of them are pretty busy at the moment.

"I don’t know. She’s pretty busy right now,” DeJean said. “So I don’t know if we'll get to that.”
